What is FBMiner?
|
FBMiner predicts the outcomes of NFL games every week using our own proprietary
statistical modeling techniques. We take advanced data mining technologies that
have been used by large corporations, banks, and stock brokerages, and unleash
it on football forecasting.
We have developed our own statisical program which is a hybrid formed by the merging
of several different popular statistical methodologies. This program generates
a model which predicts the results of the upcoming NFL games.
We run a proprietary computer program called a genetic neural network,
which generates a computer model to predict the results of the upcoming NFL
games. This neural network model makes its prediction without any
emotion or team bias that can influence human picking.
We then present these results to you completely un-edited and you can
decide which predictions look best.

How to use FBMiner
|
Each week the computer model ranks its predictions by assigning a power rating.
These power ratings are translated into the star picks you see in the first
column of the Picks report. The best ratings are the 10-star picks,
which are the predictions that the computer feels the most confident about.
Alternatively, 1-star picks are those that the computer feels the least confident
about. For a 1-star pick, the computer does not really have a strong favorite,
but shows the team it feels has a slight edge

FBMiner vs Other Picking Sites
|
Other picking sites don't give you their record for the year or they
hide their true results by saying things like "we have a winning
record for all teams in the Midwest". All this means is they came
up with a random way to group their winning bets after the fact
and leave out their
losing bets to hide the fact that they really have a losing record.
They then label this random group as a "hot streak" instead of telling
you what it really was: just luck.
At FBMiner we show you all of our picks without coming up
with some random grouping to appear that we have a winning record.
Our picks are presented exactly as the computer generated them both
before and after the games.

Supercharge Your Game Handicapping
|
An important step in building a model is the human touch. The computer
is great at taking into account all of the thousands of variable
combinations in a game and factoring them into a prediction without any
emotion. The problem is the computer can't take common sense knowledge
that a human knows into account for a particular game.
When humans are trying to predict game results, they do great with
the common sense and intangible aspects. However, they have trouble when
trying to factor in all of thousands of variable interactions that
need to be analyzed for a game.
FBMiner can now combine the best of both worlds. You start with
looking at FBMiner's predictions for the week. Then you add the
human touch: yours. You figure out which predictions make sense
based on your knowledge and intuition. Then you select just those
games where both you and the computer have come to the same conclusion.
So by adding the "human touch" you can fine tune your picks and start
supercharging your game handicapping.
